UPSTREAM CIRCUIT - "THE LAND" : The Natural Scene (SB3)

The rich and varied wild life that inhabits these islands.

"No area so small as Britain offers such variety in scenery and landscape. The reasons for the rapid changes in scenery are explained in the previous pavilion. The purpose here is to show how the variation in landscape is closely inter-related with the variation in the animal and plant life of Britain.

This has been done by choosing eleven widely different examples of landscapes in the British Isles and examining the private lifes of the animals and plants that inhabit them. Man himself has had a considerable effect on the make-up of these populations in the less remote areas; nevertheless, the pictures presented get as close as is possible to showing the wild life that existed when our ancestors began the agricultural development of their land."
